What is SAIL?

SAIL Amsterdam is one of the largest free nautical events in the world. Every five years, hundreds of tall ships, naval vessels, and heritage boats sail into IJ harbour, drawing over 2 million visitors. This year marks a a triple celebration as Amsterdam turns 750, it’s 50 years since SAIL started and this is the 10th edition of SAIL.

SAIL Amsterdam 2025 focuses on the theme of wavemaking, with an emphasis on innovation, sustainability and inclusion through immersive experiences that bridge maritime history with a forward‑looking vision.
